TAG Heuer revives an icon, inviting wearers to go even furtherbeyond the edgeand into the deep with fresh additions to theAquaracer Professional 300 family, our ultimate luxury toolwatch.
La Chaux-de-Fonds, 6th September 2021 : Following the launch of the new AquaracerProfessional300 series during Watches and Wonders Geneva in April, TAG Heuer todayannounces three additionsto the go-anywhere family of watches, including a new iteration of aTAG Heuer icon, the all-black,lume-dialled Aquaracer Professional 300 Night Diver.
TAG Heuer enthusiasts will recognise the name “Night Diver”, which was first introduced inthe mid-1980s. Loved by active, style-conscious watch buyers who push their limits, exploring nature
andgoing beyond the edge, it became one of the most celebrated sportswatches of its era.
Today’s Aquaracer Professional 300 collection picks up this story. TAG Heuer’s design, engineeringand heritage teams worked together to deliver a faithful update to a much-loved watch, retaining andimproving signature details such as the famous 12-sided bezeland the dial’s horizontal engraved linesto produce a refined, highly versatile modernclassic.
THE POWER OF THREE: Introducing a trio of new Aquaracer Professional300 models
Today’s Aquaracer Professional 300 drop adds three models to the eight announced inApril, taking thecollection to 11 references. All three new models are non-limited and go
into the core collection, eachwith a 43 mm stainless steel case and rubber strap equippedwith TAG Heuer’s innovative adjustablefolding clasp.
The new black and blue versions pick up on the bracelet models introduced at Watchesand Wonders:both are colour-themed with matching black or blue dials, ceramic bezelinserts and rubber straps.
The standout model of the release is the black DLC-coated Night Diver, joining theAquaracerProfessional 300 Tribute to Ref. 844 as the collection’s hero pieces. Its stainless-steel case, bezel, crown, caseback and clasp are all coated in matt black diamond-likecarbon, known as DLC, a high-performance, hard-wearing finish designed for use inextreme conditions. The bezel insert is highlyresistant black ceramic.
The Night Diver’s other signature feature is its fully luminescent dial, which is coated ingreen Super-LumiNova® to deliver exceptional glow-in-the-dark performance. To ensureultimate legibility in extremelow-light conditions, the watch’s minute and central secondshands are filled with blue lume to contrastwith the green of the dial. The hour hand andoctagonal hour markers at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock arefilled with green lume, and theremaining octagonal hour markers are all edged with black lacquer. Thetriangle on theunidirectional rotating bezel at 12, which is crucial to accurately and safely measuredivetimes, is also filled with striking blue lume to match the blue of the minute and centralseconds hands.
WELL ADJUSTED: TAG Heuer’s slidingclasps come as standard
Each of the new Aquaracer Professional 300 references comes with a beautifullyengineered
integratedrubber strap equipped with TAG Heuer’s newly developedadjustable clasp system.
These straps will be cut to length as part of a fitting process at a TAG Heuer boutique or byan authoriseddealer. The wearer will then have the freedom to adjust their strap toaccommodate a wetsuit, or simplyto reflect changes in ambient conditions that make thewrist expand or contract.
The fine-tuning system developed by TAG Heuer’s engineers means this adjustment canbe made toextremely small tolerances. This is done by pinching and sliding the button onthe side of the clasp. Theclasp also features double safety push-buttons that prevent itfrom being unlocked by accident.
FIT FOR PURPOSE: the detailing on the AquaracerProfessional 300 is whatmakes it exceptional.
The detailing doesn’t stop there. As with the eight pieces in the launch collection, the threenewreferences pick up on the six signature features that have defined TAG Heuer divewatches since 1983: a unidirectional rotating bezel, a screw-down crown, water resistanceto at least 200 metres, luminousmarkings, a scratch-resistant crystal and a double safetyclasp. These real-world functions became themodel’s design pillars and have beenreassuring underwater explorers for almost four decades.
THE FIRST 11: the Aquaracer story continues
The three new Aquaracer Professional 300 references annou
nced today round out thisyear’s collection
of 11 high-performance watches. These are confident, high-performingpieces designed for divers, adventurers and urban explorers who want to go beyond theedge and push their limits, and toget to the place where they find themselves. And theyare the benchmark for what is to come …
The form carries a number of further details that enhance its luxury feel and performance. The 12 sidesof the bezel are all faceted for grip, the crown is protected to preventaccidental damage and there’s amagnifying glass over the date, which is integrated intothe underside of the sapphire crystal, makingit smooth to the touch.
All this is set against the backdrop of the Aquaracer’s dial with its trademark horizontallyengravedlines. These have also been refined for the new generation of watches and arenow set slightly furtherapart than in previous Aquaracer iterations, giving the watches theirelegant, sophisticated look.
As with the launch collection, the three new Aquaracer Professional 300 references arepowered byTAG Heuer’s Calibre 5 automatic movement. They all have solid casebacksstamped with the famousscaphander diving suit, complete with a 12-sided faceplate. AllAquaracer Professional 300 models arewater-resistant to 300 metres (30 bar, 1,000 feet).
